Prabhu Deva, the choreographe-actor-turned-director has been refusing offers to act for the last few years.
The last time Prabhu did a full-length role was in 'Engal Anna' (2005), in which he co-starred Vijayakanth, Namitha and Swarnamalya.
Bhumika Chawla plays the female lead in 'Kalavadiya Pozhudugal'. Prakash Raj will also be seen in an important role. Prabhu Deva says he is doing the film as he is "impressed with Thangar's story and for the first time, a solid author-backed role has been offered to me."
