Paresh Rawal a Bollywood Star in his own right

In ordinary film parlance, he'd be dubbed a "character actor." Paresh Rawal, however, has a varied take on the subject. "From a good character actor, I've become a star character actor," he asserts in a tabloid talk.

Reportedly, Rawal's asking fee has skyrocketed to… believe it or pass out… a mere… Rs 3 crore!!

No false modesty, here. "I've become a star now and I'm charging for my stardom," he declares. "I'm justified in demanding the amount that I ask for."

Rawal's swift to defend his attitude, insisting he hasn't turned totally mercenary, nor has he sold his soul to commerce.

Citing Naseeruddin Shah's 'Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota' (2006), Nandita Das's 'Firaaq'(2008) and 'Road To Sangam' (2010), Rawal reveals that he drastically lessened his fee to accommodate these deserving projects.

High praise for Rawal's comic act in 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?' has gladdened his heart; furthermore, Om Puri and he are being cited as the "star attractions" of the forthcoming release 'Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke,' slated for a release post IPL 3, when most filmmakers shy away from a release owing to cricket fever.

"The IPL does not excite me," declares Rawal. "It's like a porn film without any romance or foreplay."

Your take… Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty?
